Joining Heart Detectives Personals

This Personals network is free to join. The sign-up screen needs you to enter nickname, a personal quote (your 'hook' line) and an essay about yourself. Well, they really mean a profile...but it can be up to 7000 characters, so they're not stopping you. I kept mine to 50 words (300 characters). Plus, it took another 50-100 words for a description of what I'm looking for in other people.

The approach is that of keeping it simple. There are several key areas:

Edit Profile - on logging in the first time, it only takes a few minutes to complete the profile. You can enter hobbies from their selection, but the selection wasn't that great, so it's best to mention hobbies/interests in the 'essay' part of your profile.

Searching - you can browse and search for free, with age/sex/location matching criteria. This was very basic, but the results themselves are presented in a decent manner - 5 people per page, using large writing to make it easier on the eye. It includes picture, nickname, age, location, personal quote and a short snippet from their profile.

The upload of photos and voice message is available. Again, the KISS approach is in full evidence here.

In order to start communicating with other singles, then you have the choice to buy a paid membership, providing you with the use of their message system, ability to view fuller profiles and thus make a better choice in those you wish to converse with.

One month costs $19.95, 3-months is $39.95, 1-year is $99.95. Payment is via the secure and trusted CCBill service.

Heartdetectives Verdict

Keep it simple seems to be the motto of Heart Detectives. Sometimes sites can get carried away with having too much information, but certainly not this one.

Personals results and searching is basic, but there are more people using it everyday - for instance I performed a variety of searches for people in the UK and the system came back with a good amount.
